29th Infantry Division

The 29th Division of the American army was probably one of the most important

divisions that participated in the invasion of Normandy. They were a very fine group of

soldiers that accomplished a lot. They, as well as many other American divisions fought a

good war against Germany. They completed what they set out to do. They participated in

the defeat of Germany and Hitler. After all those years of success, Germany was shut

down thanks to the help of America. Although the 29ers are mostly known for their war

stories, they were doing war related activities before the war even started. They began in

1940, with training, and continued all the way up until wartime. They were well-

disciplined and trained group. While their activities were taking place, many other events

were happening in the war.

The Battle of Britain was a very big event that occurred in the war. It began in

1940 with German forces attacking Britain. Germany began with massive air raids, and

took major tolls on British cities. Later, Germany began night time bomb raids. This led

to even more destruction, but now Britain was virtually defenseless. Britain soon found

out Germany's secret about night time raids, and put a stop to it. The battle finally came

to an end in 1941. German troops in 1940 were also taking over France. The French army

proved no match for the German. The British soon came to the rescues of the troubled

French soldiers. The western front attack began on may 10th, 1940, and Churchill

replaced chamberlain as prime minister. On June 22, 1941, Hitler decided to turn on one

of his own friends, the Soviet Union. Germany announced the beginning of the

Blitzkrieg invasion....
