Ai In "The Age Of Spiritual Machines"

Kurzweil describes the whole process of evolution of intelligence. He shows the evolution of intelligence, not just human intelligence, through the course of history. Based on Moore's Law-the size of each transistor on an integrated circuit chip will be reduced by fifty percent every twenty-four months which means the power of computing quadruple every twenty-four months, he predicts that in 2019, a one thousand dollars computing device can be equal to the computational ability of human brain. His prediction shows a potential chance that artificial intelligence can exceed human brain. In 2029, a one thousand dollars unit of computation, he predicts, can compute approximately as fast as one thousand human brains; and everybody will start to accept that machines are conscious. Finally in 2099, there will be no longer any distinction between humans and computers. This book shows comprehensively the process of evolution and the idea of logical prediction of artificial intelligence could exceed human intelligence. I will use this book as one of my main source for my research. I will use many quotes from this book as one which Bill Gates said about this book "Kurzweil offers a thought-provoking analysis of human and artificial intelligence and a unique look at a future in which the capabilities of the computer and the species that invented it grow ever closer." It is like a "fresh-new" idea. He also writes about logic-one of the foundation of AI, and a field that many philosophers have tried to explain since the ancient age. This book brings many new and deeper thought of AI for me.
