Analysis On The Song "We'Ve Only Just Begun"

analysis on the song "we've only just begun"

We've Only Just Begun
(The Carpenters)

We've only just begun to live,
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way.
And yes, We've just begun.

Before the rising sun we fly,
So many roads to choose
We start our walking and learn to run.
And yes, We've just begun.

Sharing horizons that are new to us,
Watching the signs along the way,
Talking it over just the two of us,
Working together day to day
Together.

And when the evening comes we smile,
So much of life ahead
We'll find a place where there's room to grow,
And yes, We've just begun.

The persona and addressee in the song are newly-wed couple. They've only just begun a new life, a married life. From the second line of the first stanza, white lace pertains to a wedding dress and the promises are the vows that they made to each other. The kiss for luck is the end of the ceremony and this is the beginning of their way to their new life as a married couple.
Before moving on, they first choose the right roads to take, decisions to make, and even their plans to follow to guide them through. And as they start their journey, they learn to manage their struggles and life's undertakings. They learn how to live with it and handle hard times.
As they go on, they share ideas that are new to both of them, watching every step they make. They talk everything over, communicating to settle things. And day by day, they work hand in hand to face their challenges and find a way to get through their problems.
And when the time comes that they get older or maybe have grown-up children, they still take things at ease. They believe that as long as they both live, there are still many things to encounter and there's still so much of life ahead of them. To the end of their days, together, they will live their lives even better.
