Barnburner

What a barnburner!!!
Last night's game was FAN-tastic. Unfortunately, SVS pulled away at the end of the second half to win 51 – 39. A gallant effort on the part of the CONS team especially for only having one practice before the season. Anyhow, the main focus is the teamwork and fitness. With the two most fattening holidays coming, heaven knows we'll need it. Our next game will be December 2 @7:15pm. Please try to make time to cheer on your team.

Coaches' note:

I hate to lose as much as the next man, however the downfall of last night was the lack of understanding our roles. It's obvious the talent levels are on two ends of the spectrum. We know who the go to guys are, however we need to understand how to effectively utilize them. Our main focus last night should have been to isolate Lang on one side of the court. Thus, creating a one-on-one situation that Lang was exploiting all night. The defense will have enough of this and will soon start to double and even triple team. This will allow the rest of us to be positioned for easy buckets. Unfortunately, this only works if all understand where they need to be and we stick to the script. We can ride this til the wheels fall off. Secondly, LT needs to run the point. He has impeccable skills to move the ball through the "D". With our "Lang Offense" working, LT should be able to slip in without much resistance. Please do not take it as the LT/Lang show, however, we need to establish a threat before we can use our other weapons. Graham is the sleeper. We need him to crash the boards behind LT or Lang. This will give us a better chance for rebounds and also an outlet for them. The rest of us will be the supporting cast until the threat is established. As with WR's in football, they don't see the ball until the ground game is going. Likewise, the running backs needed lanes to do business, and we needs to make lanes for our players to do their business. It's a domino effect, a ying...
