A Calling In Sports
Throughout my life, sports has played a significant role in developing my character. Since a very early age, I have watched sports, read about sports and participated in sports. With this passion in hand, I firmly believe a career in Sports Management is my calling.
From the "tee-ball" fields to the hard ball diamonds where I threw a no-hitter in my sophomore year, baseball has taught me many lessons. Displaying patience as one waits for the perfect pitch to hit and concentrating from the catcher's position as I call the pitch are two qualities I've developed through my years of playing. On the basketball court, I've learned that determination and hard work pay off as I anticipate being a starter this season. My true passion lies in the game of football. For the past ten years I have poured my all into anchoring the offensive line from the center position. I have experienced both ends of the competitive spectrum from championships in Little League to years of disappointment with my high school. With the players' hard work and dedication, hopefully our senior year will end in a return to the playoffs.
Years of participation in sports have afforded me the opportunity to grow and develop into a leader that others can follow. I have the honor of being named Varsity Captain of Centerpoint Football, Basketball and Baseball this year. Taking this role very seriously, each week I head onto that field, court or diamond and encourage my teammates to do whatever they have to do to be victorious.
Summer's work finds me on the Little League ball diamonds in Sante Fe umpiring hopeful ball players of the future. Dealing with coaches and parents has helped me stand up for what I believe is correct while watching the players learn the many lessons I once did. In addition, I spent three years coaching Sante Fe Youth Football which let me pass on the love of the game.
