A Change In Our Nation
The attacks on September eleventh marked a turning point in
the United States. Suddenly everything seemed different and nothing
would ever be the same. With the attack on the Twin Towers and the
Pentagon people were lost and they began to turn to each other and
religion. There was a period of coming together. With the wanting of
togetherness came enhances in the security in our Nation. The attacks
on September eleventh greatly affected our Nation's security and the
American people changing the United States forever.
On September eleventh two thousand and one around 9:00 am,
the United States was changed forever when two planes crashed into
the Twin Towers in New York, another plane that crashed into the
Pentagon and a plane that crashed eighty miles Southeast of
Pittsburgh in a field. The Nation wasn't prepared for what was to come
from these attacks. People rallied together as time went on that day
and began to learn of what exactly took place. "[As the government
looked into the crashes it was reported that a number of Middle
Eastern men hijacked four planes;] two from Boston which were en
route to Los Angeles, one bound for Los Angeles from
Washington/Dulles Airport, and another plane which left Newark, New
Jersey, bound for San Francisco," (Aponovich). People watched the
news in horror as the day's events were replayed on television.
The horrible events that took place on September eleventh
changed the American people and how they functioned. Everyone
shocked and afraid of what happened began to turn to each other and
religion for strength. The American Flag became a popular symbol
seen all over on houses, cars, shirts, drawings, the news everywhere
you turned people were rallying...
