As Europeans began to undertake voyages in search of secondary routes to Asia and new sources of prosper and wealth they encountered much conflict along the way. Every continent that they landed upon was occupied with prosperous and highly developed and complex societies. Although trade began as the main goal in mind, these greedy and conquest hungry Europeans lust for control led to major clashes and conflicts among each and every civilization encountered. For example when the Spanish landed among the Incas in Tenochtitlan located in central Mexico, they had an immense effect among these people immediately. It first started with the coming of the Spanish and their major spread of many diseases among the Incas. These people completely lacked immunity and were not at all prepared for such a hit of sickness. After this spread of sickness the Spanish decided to take over this prosperous society and did so. Within only a day, 7000 were dead and all that was the Incan civilization was ended. This day marked the beginning of the end to Atawallpa's empire. Another example of European expansion and its effect on outsider civilizations was the beginning of the slave trade. Although this was being practiced already it was never done so more grotesquely than it was when the Europeans began to get involved. The Europeans were so brutal to the Africans during the slave trade that they actually forced them to conform to christianity. They assured them that in fact they should be grateful for stripping them of their culture, beliefs, and life because if it wasn't for them they would not have found Jesus their savior. Another example of the greedy conquest hungry Europeans was by the French. Upon the arrival of the French to Canada and north eastern United States the fur trade began.
