A Critique Of The Work Of The Critic

what does the critic do?introducesthe audience to all those aspects of the film which he might have missed out on.often providing with complicated jargon to support his analogies.for instance a historical analysis, psotmodern criticism,a derridian deconstruction,to name a few.
do we really need critics?more often than not ,it is the word of the critics which makes a film a timeless classic rather than its success with its audience.
godard's breathless for instance. a film severely panned by audiences, but hailed as new wave cinema by film critics.if not for the critic, breathless would have joined the zillions of films which dissapear into oblivion.

also when watching these films you forget to look at them like your looking at any film.you are made to remember at every turn that your watching a classic.when watching satyajit ray's pather panchali, ytou are constantly looking out for those metaphors.....the train, the rain, durga'a death.
one fails to appreciate the film for itself, misses out the simplicity and elegance of that film.
once i again,i'd like to know do we really need critics?
