A Disastrous Change
People are always saying change is a good thing. Hitler sent all the Jewish people to concentration camps, that was not a good change. It will not be a good change to join the two public high schools, Pittsfield and Taconic, into one high school. The joining of the two rival high schools will cause more fights, larger classrooms and major player cuts of sports teams.
Pittsfield High and Taconic are rival schools. One look at our basketball games and you will see war break out. At the games Taconic sticks to their side and PHS to their, there is always at least one fight, or attempted fight. If the two high schools join it will be chaos. Taconic and PHS forced to join together, will remain divided in a two sided war in the hallways and in the classrooms.
The merging of PHS and Taconic will force more students to a classroom. With more students to a classroom there will be more distractions for the teachers and the students causing unfinished lesson plans and undereducated students. With larger classroom sizes there will be a lack of chemistry between teachers and students. By the end of the year students will be lucky if the teacher knows their name, let alone give the student the correct grade without mixing them up with someone else.
This year at Taconic, the amount of students trying out for sports teams forced coaches to make some cuts when they have never had to before. Great amounts of students will be cut from teams if PHS and Taconic join. Coaches will take the best of the best and throw the leftovers out in the dumpster. Sports keep youths out of trouble, they give a students a sense of accomplishment. The students who are cut will only get themselves into trouble finding new ways to uses their time, like consuming drugs and alcohol. Sports make you feel good and so do illegal substances.
