A Healthy Glow

As the summer months fade away and the long cold days of winter pale our complexion,

thousands will turn to tanning booths to brighten their skin and their spirits. What people don't

realize is that the bronzed glow they so desire is only the skin's visible response to damage from

harmful ultraviolet rays. This occurs when more people start relying on artificial ways to keep

that perfect tan. Going to tanning beds becomes a routine thing in the lives of many

Americans. Even with that popularity, people still wonder whether tanning beds are

harmful to their skin and whether they can cause skin cancer.

Tanning beds have turned out to be very unhealthy for the skin, there have been

many studies on tanning beds causing skin cancer. The rays people get from tanning beds are as

bad as the sun or even sometimes worse. So why do people still go tanning and spend all that

money? Its because they do not see the side affects of tanning until they get older. This is why

women and men continue to go to tanning salons across America and every time increase their

chances of getting skin cancer.

People who choose to tan are greatly increasing their risk of developing skin

cancer. This is especially true if tanning occurs over a period of years. Unlike skin

cancer, premature aging of the skin will occur in everyone who is repeatedly exposed to

the sun over a long time, although the damage may be less apparent and take longer to

show up in people with darker skin. As people start to understand that spending lots of

time in the sun can be dangerous, a solution to the sun's harmful rays has been

developed. Check your skin, even skin that is not usually exposed to the sun...
