A Little More About : The Philidelphia Experiment

The philidelphia experiment

I'll just say first that i only found this message board yesterday and have enjoyed greatly reading all the posts and messages here, so here is a mystery i'd like you all to solve for me!
Now you will have to bear with me as my memory is still a bit hazy but does anyone remember the philidelphia experiment from the early 40's and 50's?
I remember hearing about the usa trying out some sort of time displacing technology on one of their ships, when they initialised the special drive that they had the ship went off radar and when it came back the crew were all fused into the boat, like they had gone out of synch with the ship. The few remaining crew members told of nightmarish visions and so on, the ship was recoverd and obviously taken out of action and left in a ship yard somewhere.
Heres the point i'm going to make: the other day i watched a program about the falklands war, on it an old regimental soldier told of how his ship was bombed and many of the crew were blasted against the ships innards sticking to the wall, many of them still alive unable to pull themselves off.
I'd always wondered if the philidelphia experiment was for real or was in fact some freak explosion which, through chinese whispers, transformed into the usa trying out time travel on ships. After hearing the testimony of the falklands war veteran about the horrors that he saw on the ship i'm leaning towards believing it was an explosion but was wondering if any of you guys have heard anything more on the matter?

been some kind of radar test but all the time travel and
related strangeness is...
