A Paper On Ernest Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway was one of the most influential writers of not only his time, but our time as well. His writing style is loved by many; he writes very straightforward and tells things as they are. He lived an incredible life. He traveled all over the world, and covered many of the places visited in his stories. He was an avid outdoorsman, a hunter and a fisher. He had a problem with alcoholism, and problems with his wives. He struggled against diabetes and depression, but still lived everyday until he took his own life. This is my biography of Ernest Hemingway.
Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21, 1899 in Oak Park, Illinois. He was the second child of six, and the oldest boy of the family. When born, he weighed in at nine and half pounds and measured twenty-three inches tall. It was not until October 1, 1899, on his parent's third wedding anniversary, that he was christened, Ernest Miller Hemingway. His father's name was Clarence Hemingway, who was a doctor, and his mother was Grace Hall Hemingway. When he was three years old, his mother described him as:
Ernest Miller is a little man- no longer lazy- dresses himself completely and is a good helper for his father. He wears suspenders just like Papa. Is very proud to be a member of Agassiz (a nature study group organized by his father). He counts up to 100, can spell by ear very well. He likes to build cannons and forts with building blocks. He collects cartoons of the Russo-Japanese War. He loves stories about Great Americans- can give you good sketches of all the great men of American History. (Internet)
Ernest's father taught the children to love nature. He taught them about the outdoors and how to build fires and cook in the open. He taught the children how to use an axe and tie their own flies for fishing. He even taught the children how to prepare an animal or bird for mounting.
