A Reaction Paper On Abortion

A sexually active couple in college use birth control on an inconsistent basis. Both are in their junior year in college when they conceived a child. The man suggests they marry, yet the woman feels unprepared to assume the duties of parenthood and marriage. She especially fears how her parents would react to the news of her pregnancy.

It is not justifiable to have an abortion in this case. These students are old enough to know what they're doing. Early parenthood and the stigma it would bring them are consequences they should have anticipated and should therefore be avoided by not having contact or by using contraceptives properly. Now that the woman has conceived is a problem they should have to face head on. Abortion is not the answer. The guilt that would hound them (if indeed the woman decided to have an abortion) would cause emotional distress and disturbance to both of them and would therefore negatively affect their lives.
