A Research Of Modern School Education

At the very beginning of my essay, I am willing to share two questions:
1. Does Modern Education really work?
2. Why do students have to go to school?

In this article, we will take a brief look at these two questions:

First and foremost, education can be regarded from many different points. One view considers it partly as the transmission of the accumulated knowledge of a society, said Aristotle (ref. 1). Children are born without any culture and principles– they grow up in one, sculpting their manners and beliefs towards their proper roles in their communicating circle and the whole society. In the early eras, human only accumulated very few knowledge, in that case, the society only maintain little formal education.

As the society becoming more and more complex, it can take several years of formal education to transfer the knowledge and skills to the next generation. In addition, it even started to break up into specialized fields of study. Nowadays, advanced education is becoming more and more popular and universal.

According to the dictionary definition (ref. 1): modern education means of, relating to, or influenced by a theory of education characterized by emphasis on the individual needs and capacities of each child and informality of curriculum. Under this definition, let us focus on the aims of the so-called progressive education. Depending on our perspectives mentioned before, there also exist many views regarding the purpose of education: The first view is that, our goal is only to produce good contributors, such as coal miners who will dig holes until they retire without causing any problems, therefore in this case, the means of education will just be a straightforward issue.
