A Second Bay Bridge Series?
While the season has only just begun several sports casters have already made their
picks for the division winners. Most of these experts have selected the two bay area teams to not only represent their divisions in the playoffs but to also represent their respective leagues in the World Series. The thought of the Bay Bridge Series Two makes any bay area baseball fan salivate. Then the question arises; who would have an advantage in a seven game series. With many similarties and differences; who would win a World Series beteween the Oakland A's and the San Fransisco Giants.
The Oakland A's and San Fransisco Giants show a few similarties that could prove to have a decent impact on a seven game series. For instance they both lost their veteran managers to teams who were willing to offer them larger contracts. But the most important compairson is the depth in the two teams bullpens. The A's have a very diverse and hard throwing bullpen, that compliments their starting rotation very nicely. And the Giants have a very expirenced hard throwin closer followed by several right and left handed set up men.. While both teams come in with new coaches and good bulpens, the key to the series still lays in their differences.
The differences between these two teams are very extensive but should give a better idea of which team is the best in the bay. The largest noticeable difference is the starting pitchers. The Oakland A's have three young aces who have each won 20 games in one season over the past three years. The A's also have last years American League Cy Young Award winner in Barry Zito. The Giants on the other hand didnt have a starter last year that won over 15 games; and in the offseason they traded away Russ Ortiz and Livan Hernandez, who were two of their top starters in years past. Then comes the teams offences; the Athletics have a batting order set up to move runners around the bases, through sacrifices, in order to score runs....
