Reaction Paper
The organizational behavior course opened up new possibilities and new ways of thinking for me. The ideas presented in the course helped clarify the procedures and protocol of our upper management and the lessons they attempt to pass on to us, the organizational leaders of tomorrow. I have had the personal opportunity to see many of the behaviors in practice in my current position. Beginning from the recruitment strategies and the actual process of receiving a job offer and all the protocol that followed was displayed to me on the very first day of employment with my current employer. I have been through similar employee rating processes and have seen the benefits of an employer who values empowerment and entrepreneurship. Factors such as creativity, technical skill, vision and customer service shape my participation within the organization and I have first hand knowledge of the concepts presented in the text. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work for varied employers and have seen a multifaceted spectrum of organizational behaviors. Some good, some bad, and some being indifferent. There has been diversity of culture, gender, age and values. All of these factors shaped my experience and enhanced my desire to become more involved with the higher levels of management.
