The joke is that duggu failed to make the box office cash till ring k-ching after KNPH (which was Pappa’s Rakesh film) despite doing films with great directions and big banners like Yashraj films. And now, three years later, he delivers a possible blockbuster with Koi… Mil Gaya (anotherPappa’s Rakesh film). So the joke goes: Shah Rukh Khan says to Duggu: mere paas dhan hai, dault hai, bangla hai, Yash hai, Karan hai, Aditya hai, tumhare paas kya hai? Duggu replies: mere paas Pappa hai. The joke implies that without Pappa Roshan, Duggu cannot deliver a hit. Some jokers have gone as far as to say that he has had nothing but “flops” since KNPH. Of course K3G was a hit but some are claiming it to be SRK’s hit not Duggu’s! First of all Duggu would rather depend on his father to deliver super hits and awards for him than depend on a GODfather, like Yashraj or Dhama Productions. Secondly, these hit and award baaps of SRK are here today, gone tomorrow and as soon as a new bakra comes to sight! But Hrithik Roshan has his dad for the rest of his career – a dad who is daring enough to consider bold subjects and intelligent enough to know his son’s talent is UNLIMILTED and does not around love boy, macho, typical Bollywood hero material! Hrithik Roshan is about – more than just a song and dance! If Hrithik Roshan delivers only with Pappa Roshan then how do you explain his box office status since 2000? All his films have fetched the initial of 90 – 100%, including that garbage movie called Aap Mujhe! And only 2 films are universal flops – the rest are average to very successful! 8 out of 10 is an excellent record and we all know these 8 films were not Filmkraft production! Dufilms released with box office verdict Kaho Na Pyaar Hai (Blockbuster) Fiza (Above Average) Mission Kashmir (Semi Hit) Yaadein (Average) Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham (Blockbuster) Amall Flop) NTJNH (Flop) Mujhse Dosti Karoge (Average) Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon (Semi Hit) How can one claim Duggu has had nothing but flops since KNPH? He has had two super hits and yes, SRK was the lead in K3g but ask anyone and they will tell you that Duggu, in only his 2nd year stood taller in the movie than SRK! Apart from SRK fans, most cine goers enjoyed watching Duggu and Kajol more in K3H than they did watching Amitab and SRK. So lets be fair here and give him EQUAL credit as SRK! Do you believe that if, instead of Duggu if Abishek, Arjun Rampal or Fardeen had played that character of Rohan, they would have been nominated for best support?
